The management of Akwa United Football Club has announced an end-of-season break for players and officials.
The Club Chairman, Mr. Joseph Eno, announced that players and officials will proceed on break from Friday, June 5, 2026, to allow them time to rest and recover while the club begins preparations for the next football season.
Mr. Eno expressed the club's appreciation to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, for his unwavering support and commitment to the growth and development of the team throughout the season.
"On behalf of the management and staff of this great club, I want to express my profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state Pastor Umo Bassey Eno PhD for his wonderful support and encouragement he gave to us as a team.
" We are indebted to the honourable commissioner for Sports Elder Paul Bassey who has been our pillar of inspiration and support throughout the season. We are grateful to our worthy partners Ibom Air limited as well as all our fans and supporters. We are disappointed that we couldn't achieve our set target at the end of the season but we are confident that we will get it right next season".
Akwa United concluded their 2025-2026 football season in the Nigeria National League (NNL) by narrowly missing out on the sole promotion ticket by just one point.
With the season now officially over, the club is expected to announce a comprehensive pre-season programme and resumption date in the coming weeks as preparations begin for another push for promotion in the 2026/27 season.
The management thanked supporters, stakeholders, and partners for their loyalty and encouragement throughout the campaign and reaffirmed the club's determination to return stronger next season.
