Aniebiet Sunday was named Player of the Match after an outstanding debut for Akwa United FC in their 1–0 win over Rovers FC in a Nigeria National League Matchday 10 fixture at the Uyo Township Stadium on Sunday, February 15.
The new signing scored the winning goal late in the game, receiving a precise pass from fellow debutant Oladimeji Dada. With the match heading for a draw, Sunday calmly controlled the ball in the box, beat his markers with neat movement and composure, and fired home the decisive goal to secure maximum points for Akwa United in the derby.
At the end of the match, he received the Player of the Match award, which was presented by officials of Ibom Air, with support from brand influencer and NPFL legend Mfon Udoh and Akwa United chairman, Mr Joseph Eno.
