Akwa United Football Club has noted reports circulating on social media claiming that defender Etim Charles has signed a two-year contract with a football club.
The club wishes to state unequivocally that Etim Charles remains a bona fide player of Akwa United and is under a valid contract with the club until the end of the 2026/2027 football season.
The player signed a two-year contract at the beginning of the 2025/2026 season and has neither been released to any other club and his contract with Akwa United has not been terminated.
As players and officials are currently on the end-of-season break, the club has not sanctioned any transfer involving the player.

Akwa United hereby notifies the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), the Nigeria National League (NNL), as well as all clubs, agents, and intermediaries, that any negotiations or transfer arrangements involving Etim Charles without the club's written approval are unauthorized and undertaken entirely at the parties' own risk.
