Akwa United forward Daniel Gothom and midfielder Michael Okenwa have been named the Ibom Air/Akwa United Player of the Month and Goal of the Month for December 2025, respectively.
Gothom impressed throughout the month, featuring in all of the club’s matches and scoring two crucial goals that secured victories against Osun United and First Bank. His consistent performances earned him the Player of the Month award.
Okenwa's stunning acrobatic strike against First Bank which extended Akwa United’s lead in their 3-1 away victory in Lagos was voted Goal of the Month in December.
Both players were presented with their awards by Ibom Air brand influencer and NPFL legendary striker Mfon Udoh in front of home fans shortly before the kickoff of Akwa United’s first game of 2026 against Stormers FC at the Uyo Township Stadium, on Sunday, January 4, 2025.
The Ibom Air/Akwa United awards are part of the incentive package from the club’s strategic partnership with Ibom Air.
