Former Nigeria Premier Football League champions Akwa United FC will open their pre-season training camp on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the uyo township stadium in Uyo, ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
Coaches Orok Akarandut, Bassey Akpan and Itoro Akpan are to lead retained players and appointed backroom staff during the training sessions.
The training scheduled for eight O'clock in the morning (8:00 am) is also open to new players who are desirous of playing for the club.
Speaking ahead of the resumption, the Acting Secretary of the club, Elder Omon Bassey, emphasized that the pre-season programme is part of a broader strategy to reposition the team and ensure they meet their targets for the upcoming campaign.
Akwa United, who won the NPFL title in 2021 and have claimed the Federation Cup twice, will be competing in the NNL this season. The Promise Keepers are targeting a swift return to the top tier in the 2026/27 season.
