Akwa United FC’s hopes of recording a third away win of the season suffered a setback as they lost 1–0 to Osun United FC on Matchday 13 at the Lanreleke Stadium in Ile-Igbo on Saturday.
Despite the defeat, the Promise Keepers remain top of the Nigeria National League Conference B table with 25 points from 13 matches, one point ahead of Sporting Lagos FC, who defeated Abakaliki FC 2–1 at the Onikan Stadium in Lagos on Sunday.
Akwa United conceded an early goal, and all efforts to get back into the game proved abortive as they suffered their fourth defeat of the season.
Head coach Paul Offor named the same starting line-up that defeated First Bank FC in Uyo on Matchday 12, but the team was unable to find the back of the net despite creating numerous chances.
Daniel Gothom, Nsikak Raphael, Emmanuel Charles, Paulinus Okon, Etim Charles, and Esonwanne Gift all came close, but their efforts were either blocked by defenders or saved by the goalkeeper.
Akwa United will now aim to extend their lead at the summit of Conference B when they face Sporting Lagos on Matchday 14 at the Uyo Township Stadium on Sunday, 15 March 2026.
